Whole Wheat Crumpets

This week the ALPHA BAKERS are baking crumpets.

I diced make the crumpets with a mixture of two kinds of flour, whole wheat flour and all-purpose flour and also made double the recipe and also had to lower the heat so they would not burn, and had to pour a bit more batter in each rings , it's more heathier for you , and when toasted even better , "Simply delicious!

Have you ever had crumpets? If not, you're really missing out!

Crumpets are kind of English Muffins-bready, craggy, and best when lightly toasted-but they are softer, spongier in a good way! and have a more delicate flavor. Smothered with a pat of butter and some delicious homemade preserves, like Black Current or jams, they are just about perfect, all I can say is wow!

Absolutely delicious! With a bit of  butter and Black Current Preserve .
I had to lower the heat @300F. while Cooking them ,  so they wouldn't burn and cook better ,and also had to pour a bit more of batter in each rings...
Now poured the batter in each greased rings...and cooking...
All ready to start cooking them in a skillet @ 300F. and cook for 7-8 minutes.
Back in the microwave for 30 minutes...
Warmed up the milk and added the baking soda and stirred it gently....
I the microwave for 1 and 1/2 hours, with a cup of hot water to keep the dough warm temp...
Now placed the flour mixture in a 600 pro stand mixer with a flat beater and the lukewarm water and mix for 5 minutes...
In a medium bowl mixed the dry ingredients with a whisk..
They are so yummy with whole wheat flavor!!!

  3. I need to try the whole-wheat version--for some reason, I've always made crumpets with white flour alone. Yours look great!

  5. I really like how you added the whole wheat flour. They have such a nice color. I use a microwave as a proofing box too with a glass of hot water. These crumpets look so pretty with your homemade jams and butter.
